A Damsel in Distress
by Brenda Williamson
Irisa runs away, is kidnapped and thrown on the back of
a dragon. She escapes only to be rescued by Sir Ware Pembroke, who
thinks Irisa stole one of his dragons. He is more interested in
getting back his dragon then untying her. She commands him to untie
her, but he laughs and labels her a brazen wench. Sir Ware finds out
Irisa’s father is Lord Wallace Mansfield, who is a powerful man. Sir
Ware is having a hard time fighting his powerful attraction to Irisa
while she is doing her best to seduce him. After delivering her safely
to her father, he wants to marry her, but finds out that she is to
marry Sir Tulane, whom he hates for many things including extreme
dragon fighting. Sir Tulane, has wanted Irisa for years and plots to
seize her father’s lands as soon as possible. Ware is a threat and
must be removed. Irisa finds out Sir Tulane is responsible for her
kidnapping and for the feud between her Uncle and father.
I enjoyed the interaction between Irisa and Ware in this tale as
they flirted and taunted each other at the beginning of the book.
When Ware finds out she is missing, he is accompanied by this
brother, Sir Henry, to search for her. I loved how A Damsel in
Distress was written and the readers who enjoy Brenda
Williamson’s work will jump at the chance to read this one. I hope
there will be a story on Sir Henry too
